The FinTech revolution is taking place in many different aspects of life as we know it. One smart man recently introduced me to the term vunk — which means virtual junk — and it is something all of us have far too much of. The main problem is how no one has cracked the code to monetizing our virtual junk just yet, but that situation might be about to change once more people join the FreeMyVunk movement.

FreeMyVunk — Monetizing Virtual Junk On The Blockchain

Taking a closer look at the collectible card game industry gives us valuable insights into how vunk is effectively created. More and more casual players are flocking to digital card games, such as Magic The Gathering: Online and Hearthstone. However, all of these games still require players to buy physical goods to create an optimal gaming experience. Granted, no one is obligated to buy anything in real-life for the purpose of advancing in a digital card game. All of the cards, levels, zones, and whatnot can be reached without spending a single cent, even though it will take up a lot of time to do so. Grinding, as this principle is called, is not for everyone, and some players prefer to spend money to advance in these games at an accelerated pace.

Buying additional cards, or in-game credits can be achieved by purchasing physical cards representing a digital value. Most of these digital games will allow in-game purchases through credit card as well, yet not everyone has access to these financial tools. Physical purchases for additional in-game perks still dominate the market for the time being. Regardless of how much time players put in, all they have in the end is something they achieved in the virtual world. Monetizing this achievement is not possible through legal means, as selling accounts or in-game characters is strictly forbidden. FreeMyVunk may offer a solution to give players a legitimate way to monetize virtual “junk”.

One of the main goals of FreeMyVunk is to educate gamers and draw a reaction from them. For far too long, gamers have been content with spending lots of money on games, without being able to earn anything from their hard work. In fact, gamers all over the world should be outraged about the situation. Getting FreeMyVunk on track will require several pieces of the puzzle to fall in place first. Incentivized evangelists will play an important role in the FreeMyVunk movement, combined with the mainstream media attention that has already been secured. In fact, the first game company has already joined the FreeMyVunk movement, and it is none other than EverdreamSoft, the creators of mobile card game Spells of Genesis.

The Plan of Action — Brief Overview

As mentioned earlier, the term “vunk” means “virtual junk”. But there is a secondary meaning to “VUNK”, as it will be a crypto token issued on top of the Ethereum protocol. This token will be the key to gamers being able to monetize their digital achievements and progress in a legal manner.

To smoothen the transition for gamers and game development companies, the FreeMyVunk movement will build tools and plugins for seamless blockchain integration. Doing so will allow for issuing and tracking virtual assets in-game, making it as easy as adding a leaderboard for a game.

Last but not least, there will be a VUNK marketplace, which will serve as the place-to-be for trading virtual assets in the new gaming industry. The time has come to take ownership of the virtual worlds, ignore the rules, and think outside the box. Change starts with the individual user, and that user is you.
